Shaquem Griffin, first and so far only one-handed professional football player in the NFL, has ended his career.
Munich/Miami – Shaquem Griffin, the first and so far only one-handed professional football player in the US professional league NFL, has ended his career. The 27-year-old had most recently been under contract with the Miami Dolphins, but was released last year without playing.
Football as “Plan B “
“Football was always just plan B for me. Now it’s time to execute Plan A,” Griffin wrote in a lengthy piece for The Players’ Tribune. “I’m going to build something new so I can do what my dad always told us to do: Leave the world a better place than we found it.”
Griffin, who is missing his left forearm due to a birth defect, had played for the Seattle Seahawks for three years and played 46 games in the NFL.
