Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns has been suspended for the first six NFL games of the season for sexual harassment.
Cologne (SID) – Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has been suspended for the first six US Professional Football League (NFL) games of the season for sexual harassment. The 26-year-old violated the league’s rules of conduct, disciplinary commissioner Sue L. Robinson ruled. US media had previously speculated about a much harsher punishment.
Watson allegedly arranged to have massages with numerous women between March 2020 and March 2021, 25 of whom pressed charges. Watson, then still with the Houston Texans, allegedly solicited sexual acts.
Watson, who signed a five-year contract with the Browns worth a staggering $230 million, will miss games against the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots. Jacoby Brissett is expected to replace him at quarterback. The season begins on 9 September.
