Deebo Samuel apparently wants to leave the San Francisco 49ers. Multiple media reports highlight that the wide receiver has reportedly broken off contract extension negotiations and demanded a trade.
Munich/San Francisco – Are star receiver Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers parting ways? The speculations are becoming more and more concrete.
As Jeff Darlington of “ESPN” reports, the 26-year-old has demanded a trade from the 49ers. Darlington claims to have spoken to Samuel personally and thus to have received the information about the intended departure at first hand. The player did not want to give further details or the reasons for his trade request.
The 2019 second-round pick is in the final year of his rookie deal and is targeting a lucrative multi-year contract – but apparently not in San Francisco. Earlier, Adam Schefter reported that Samuel had broken off contract talks with the team.
According to “The Athletic”, the Houston Texans are said to be one of the teams that could put together a package for the receiver. NFL insider Ian Rapoport additionally brings up the New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions as possible trade partners.
