Von Miller talks about his move to the Buffalo Bills, offering insight into his decision-making and admitting he feels like he let the Los Angeles Rams down.

Munich/Buffalo – Linebacker Von Miller has opened up about his decision-making for the first time following his surprise trade to the Buffalo Bills in the offseason. In doing so, he revealed that the switch was not a no-brainer.

The 32-year-old signed a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills on Thursday. Around $51 million of that is said to be fully guaranteed.

Despite the enormous deal, the eight-time pro bowler said it was not easy for him to leave the Super Bowl-winning Los Angeles Rams and join the Bills.

“When I left Denver and I went to LA, I said I’m not going back. I said I’m not leaving. And it had to be something special. It had to be the Buffalo Bills. What they’ve created here — it had to be the Bills Mafia.”

Return to the Denver Broncos was also an option

Miller commented to ESPN, “I saw what Aaron Donald does to Aaron Donald and it was very hard to leave the team. But I wanted to do something special again. And what’s being done here in Buffalo is very special. The Bills will win a Super Bowl with or without me. They’ve built an amazing team and I needed to be a part of that.”

A return to the Denver Broncos had also been an option, according to Miller. However, he said the decision-making process was much more difficult than he had thought.

The decision to leave the Rams after the Super Bowl triumph was also difficult for him, he said: “I feel like I let the Rams down. But this was the only time in my career that I had to make a decision for myself.”

Von Miller had been traded from the Denver Broncos to the Rams during the previous Regular Season and had won the Super Bowl with the Rams.
