The new Las Vegas Raiders are counting on a proven force at the quarterback position for the future: As the NFL Network reports, Derek Carr is to receive a new contract.
Munich – The Las Vegas Raiders are entering the new season with new coach Josh McDaniels and new general manager Dave Ziegler. So it’s a fresh start. But the current quarterback is to stay on board: Derek Carr beckons a new contract.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that those responsible want to keep Carr on board for the long term. He still has a contract for the coming season, in which he will earn around 20 million dollars.
For Carr, the new coach was always an important factor in his own future decision, and as Rapoport further reports, McDaniels is also said to have been the quarterback’s favourite. Conversely, McDaniels and Ziegler are said to have considered signing Carr in the past with the Patriots.
Playoffs exit against Cincinnati Bengals
Carr played a strong season in 2021, finishing with 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns. The Raiders made the playoffs but were eliminated in the Wild Card Round by the Cincinnati Bengals
