Russell Wilson’s contract with the Seattle Seahawks runs until 2024, but trade rumours about the quarterback have persisted for over a year. In a radio interview, Wilson now gives Seahawks fans hope that he will stay in Seattle.
Munich/Seattle – Change of heart for Russell Wilson? After there were always trade rumours surrounding the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, some of which he fuelled himself, the 33-year-old is now giving his fans in Seattle hope that he will stay.
“I’m really fortunate to have spent ten great years in Seattle,” Wilson told “Mad Dog Sports Radio.””My hope is to stay there and continue to play successful football. That’s always been the goal. I never had any other intentions. “
Russell Wilson scattered rumours about advisers
Wilson hasn’t been this outspoken about Seattle in a while. Over the past year, the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints were repeatedly mentioned as franchises Wilson would like to play for. His adviser Mark Rodgers even confirmed this to “ESPN” in February 2021.
The Seahawks quarterback still has a current contract in Seattle until 2024, which is equipped with a “no-trade clause”. Accordingly, Wilson has a say in a transfer. If Wilson’s latest statements are to be believed, this will not happen anyway, despite a disappointing season.
Seattle finished the current season in last place in the NFC West with seven wins and ten losses.
