The Washington football team announces its new name: Washington Commanders. Franchise player Chase Young is anything but thrilled about it, as evidenced by an appearance on a TV show.
Munich – On Wednesday, the Washington football team caused a stir. The former Redskins announced their new team name to the media: Washington Commanders.
While some supporters were positive, ridicule and laughter prevailed among most NFL fans. One person who also can’t relate to the name is franchise player Chase Young. And there is evidence of that.
In November, the 22-year-old was a guest on USA Today and was asked to rank eight possible new names using the A to F system commonly used in the U.S.
Chase Young not a fan of the name Commander
For Commanders, the athlete’s verdict was clear: “F” – i.e. the worst possible rating. It must also be mentioned, however, that Young was not convinced by the other names either. He gave four other suggestions the worst possible grade as well.

By the way, Washington Football Team did best in this. Young would have preferred to keep the already existing name.
