Jason Witten wants to continue his career in the NFL 2020. But after 16 years with the Dallas Cowboys his path could lead him to another team.

Jason Witten can’t get enough. Actually, the legend of the Dallas Cowboys 2018 had already ended his career, but discovered before the 2019 season that the fire was still burning inside him.

And how.

The Tight End made its comeback at the tender age of 37, scoring 529 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games. However, he missed the playoffs with the Cowboys after an 8:8 score.

Meaning: The eleven-time Pro Bowler must wait for a Super Bowl victory even after 16 years in the NFL. This means that in 2020 the 17th attempt is to follow, a career as a coach still has to wait. Where, however, is open.

“I want to play,” he made clear. “I feel like I still have something to give.” He’s already had an initial meeting with new Cowboys’ Coach Mike McCarthy. He’s also in constant communication with owner Jerry Jones. Before the Free Agency starts in mid-March, the veteran wants clarity.

“Coaching is my future, but right now I want to play as long as I can. We’ll see where. Of course I want to do that with the Dallas Cowboys. I will always be a cowboy. But I also understand that with all the changes I might have to go somewhere else,” he said.

With Garrett to the Giants?

One possibility: the New York Giants, after ex-coach Jason Garrett was hired there as offensive coordinator. But Witten makes no secret of the fact that he still has a score to settle with the Cowboys, where he has been playing since 2003. And he thinks he can settle it in 2020.

“I hope I can stay in Dallas because I want nothing more than to bring a title here,” Witten said. “I think this team is close. I think it really has the potential to do some special things.”
