The NFL career of Aldon Smith was marked by scandals and the struggle with personal demons. Now the linebacker, who is currently a free agent, will be arrested again.

Munich – Aldon Smith was arrested by police in California on Monday, “TMZ Sports” reports. The former NFL linebacker is accused of driving under the influence of drugs. At least one other person is said to have been injured. More details are not yet known.

According to the report, the 32-year-old was taken to a jail in northern California on Monday evening, with bail set at 50,000 US dollars. Smith has repeatedly run afoul of the law during his active career in the NFL. He has been arrested multiple times for driving under the influence.

In April 2021, he was charged with assault and Smith was arrested in Louisiana.In 2018, he was charged with domestic violence against his then-girlfriend. Smith was drafted in the first round by the San Francisco 49ers in 2011 and quickly matured into a star. But his problems off the field – he said he also struggled with depression and addiction – thwarted a more successful NFL career.

In 2020 Smith stated in an interview with “TMZ” that he was clean and returned to the NFL after a long time out. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys for one season. The Seattle Seahawks signed him in April 2021, but released him in August. Smith played a total of 75 NFL games, registering 228 tackles and 52.5 sacks.
