Minnesota Vikings: Dalvin Cook faces retirement

Star running back Dalvin Cook has to be driven off the field after a hard hit. Further examinations on Monday should provide information on the severity of the injury. The initial diagnosis is a dislocated shoulder.

San Francisco – The Minnesota Vikings may be facing a lengthy absence for Dalvin Cook.

The star running back fell backwards, twisting his right knee and crashing hard on his left shoulder after a hard hit from defensive tackle Kevin Givens in a 26-34 loss at the San Francisco 49ers.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the 26-year-old dislocated his shoulder.

While players from both teams knelt down, Cook was driven off the field in tears late in the third quarter.

Head coach Mike Zimmer said after the game that it was too early to tell the severity of the injury. Cook will undergo an MRI exam on Monday.
