The Kansas City Chiefs add Josh Gordon to their 53-man roster. The wide receiver could thus make his debut for coach Andy Reid’s team next Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Munich – Josh Gordon is just one small step away from finally returning to an NFL playing field.

After the Kansas City Chiefs signed the feisty wide receiver at the end of September and added him to their practice squad, the 30-year-old could play in a game next weekend for the first time since 2019.

That’s because the Chiefs named the wide receiver to the 53-man roster.

Mahomes: “He’s a great receiver “

Defensive end Joshua Kaindoh was placed on the Injury/Reserve list earlier this week, leaving a spot open on the squad. The rookie injured his knee in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

This free spot was now given to Gordon, who was supposed to get a few weeks of acclimatisation time with the Chiefs.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already looking forward to his new target: “He’s a great receiver. He’s going to be one of those guys that even when he’s covered, he can throw to him and he still makes plays. I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Gordon stands tall at 6-foot-9 and has been in the league since 2012. That’s when he was picked in the second round of the draft by the Cleveland Browns and led the league in receiving yards a year later.

After some off-field antics, however, the 30-year-old has already served a few suspensions. Among others, for taking illicit substances during his time with the Seattle Seahawks between 2019 and 2020.
