Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys 28:36
Statement win for the Dallas Cowboys! Against the previously undefeated Carolina Panthers, it was especially the offense around quarterback Dak Prescott that put a real exclamation mark on the game. “America’s Team” struggled a bit in the first half, but in the second half, even the strong Panthers defence was no match for Dak and Co.
Prescott ended the game with 188 passing yards and four touchdowns. As in the previous week, the run game also went like clockwork: Veteran Ezekiel Elliott ended up running for 143 rushing yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys’ defence also continued to be very strong. Cornerback Trevon Diggs stood out once again and grabbed two more interceptions. The shooting star has already intercepted five balls after four days of play
Quards
Quarterback Sam Darnold scored two rushing touchdowns in the first half to give the Panthers a lead going into the break before Prescott and the Cowboys took control of the game. Darnold still delivered a strong game, finishing with 336 total yards and four touchdowns.
Wide receiver D.J. Moore stood out in the rest of the Panthers offense with 113 receiving yards. His two touchdowns in the last quarter could not prevent the defeat of the Panthers, although it became exciting again. A trick play by the Cowboys two minutes before the end finally ensured the home victory.
Washington Football Team at Atlanta Falcons 34:30
Suspenseful exchange between the Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Football Team. The two winless teams did not give each other a single yard and fought a fierce battle until the last quarter. In the end, the football team celebrated its first victory of the current season.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan put in a strong performance, finishing with 283 passing yards and four touchdowns thrown. Falcons receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had a great afternoon with three caught balls in the end zone.
The Washington football team’s special teams were particularly convincing. DeAndre Carter provided a spectacular touchdown with a 101-yard kickoff return. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke ended up with 290 passing yards and three touchdowns. Star receiver Terry McLaurin stood out with 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears 14:24
Next success rookie quarterback Justin Fields for the Chicago Bears. In the unchallenged victory over the Detroit Lions he showed himself as a calm and focused playmaker and ended up with 209 passing yards. He also made one interception. Running back David Montgomery scored two rushing touchdowns before suffering a serious knee injury.
The Detroit Lions’ offence, on the other hand, had trouble getting rolling. Quarterback Jared Goff allowed himself two critical fumbles, one of which occurred at the 1-yard line in front of the Bears’ end zone. Through the air, the veteran delivered a tidy game with 298 passing yards and two touchdowns.
German-American wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown posted his best NFL performance to date with six receptions and 70 receiving yards.
Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills 0:40
The Buffalo Bills gave the Houston Texans no chance throughout the entire game and celebrated an undisputed home victory. Rookie quarterback David Mills of the Houston Texans had an absolute horror afternoon. The Texans offence failed to score a single point.
The visitors gained -23 scrimmage yards at halftime, which did not improve in the second half. On the Bills’ side, quarterback Josh Allen put in such a solid performance and calmly directed the offense to victory.
The 25-year-old finished with 248 yards and two touchdowns. The Bills defence managed two sacks and four interceptions.
New York Giants at New Orleans Saints 27:21 n.V.
First win of the season for the New York Giants! In a thrilling game, Daniel Jones and Co. somewhat surprisingly prevail at the New Orleans Saints. The Giants’ quarterback confirmed his strong performance of the past weeks and ended up with 402 passing yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
Man of the match, however, was running back Saquon Barkley, who excelled with 126 yards and two touchdowns. It was also he who scored the decisive points in overtime.
The Saints, on the other hand, had to swallow their second defeat of the season. Even though Jameis Winston didn’t have a bad game with 226 yards and a touchdown, the offence couldn’t prevent the defeat.
Cleveland Browns at Minnesota Vikings 14:7
Despite two strong offensives, a real defensive battle took place between the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings. Both defences ensured that only three points made it onto the scoreboard in the entire second half.
Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield had a shaky performance and managed just 155 passing yards. The running back duo of Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb combined for 169 rushing yards, which ultimately gave the Browns the win.
With 203 passing yards and a touchdown, quarterback Kirk Cousins was unable to prevent the loss. A last second Hail Mary attempt was finally blocked by the Browns defence.
Indianapolis Colts at Miami Dolphins 27:17
Carson Wentz and the Indianapolis Colts rewarded themselves with their first win of the season after a strong away performance. The quarterback led his team to victory with 228 PAssing yards and two touchdowns to tight end Mo Alie-Cox.
His counterpart Jacoby Brissett, on the other hand, had trouble with the Colts’ strong pass rush and committed a devastating fumble. His 199 passing yards and two touchdowns ultimately couldn’t prevent the loss.
Tennessee Titans at New York Jets 24:27 n.V.
The New York Jets also celebrate their first win of the season. Head coach Robert Saleh’s team finally managed to win after overtime against the injury-ravaged Tennessee Titans. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson showed his best performance in the NFL so far.
With 297 passing yards and two touchdowns, he did not show any nerves in overtime. Wide receiver Corey Davis scored 111 receiving yards and a spectacular touchdown after a bomb by Wilson.
The Titans noticed the absence of their top receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones. The burden was once again on the shoulders of running back Derrick Henry, who delivered once again with 157 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a solid performance with 298 passing yards and a touchdown. In overtime, however, he failed to lead his team into the end zone. A missed field goal by kicker Randy Bullock finally sealed the defeat.
