Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested for driving under the influence shortly before the start of the season. The franchise has already responded to the incident.

Unwelcome news for the Indianapolis Colts just before the start of the season: Wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence.

According to online arrest records, the 34-year-old is also charged with driving under the influence while endangering another person. Both charges are misdemeanors.

As reported by several local media outlets, Allen was arrested around 1 a.m. in downtown Indianapolis and, according to jail records, was subsequently held at the “Marion County Arrestee Processing Center.”

Meanwhile, his franchise has already responded to the arrest. “We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be making any further comments at this time,” the Colts emphasized in a statement.

Allen recently signed with the Colts

The veteran had just signed a one-year, $3.32 million contract with Indianapolis in mid-August. Allen made a brief appearance on Saturday in the final preseason game against the Detroit Lions, recording a 24-yard catch.

Last season, the six-time Pro Bowler recorded 81 catches for 777 receiving yards and four touchdowns with the Los Angeles Chargers. The third-round pick from 2013 spent his first 11 NFL seasons with the Chargers before joining the Chicago Bears in 2024 following a contract dispute.
