Brandon Aiyuk is expected to leave the San Francisco 49ers. George Kittle is already causing a stir with a cryptic warning.
George Kittle has sent a cryptic warning to the potential new team of his current teammate Brandon Aiyuk, who is likely to leave the San Francisco 49ers.
“The last time I saw Aiyuk was around Week 6, 7, or 8. I don’t remember exactly,” Kittle said on the “Pardon My Take” podcast. “ “I used to make it a habit to go out in the morning before meetings and watch him practice because he was always there early—and I saw him running over 35 km/h and then stopping abruptly,” he explained.
But since that was many months ago, the tight end isn’t sure what kind of shape Aiyuk is in today. “Well, he’s still got it, or at least he did a year and eight months ago—so I don’t know exactly. But have fun with it, I guess. Have fun with everything that comes with it,” he explained cryptically.
Aiyuk last took the field in Week 7 of the 2024 season, when he suffered a serious knee injury and hasn’t played a single game since. Even before his injury, Aiyuk had already been a disappointment after many strong years, failing to catch a single touchdown throughout the entire 2024 season, while averaging 58.5 yards.
NFL: Is Aiyuk heading to the Commanders?
The wide receiver is officially under contract with the 49ers through 2029, but everything currently points to him leaving. The Washington Commanders are emerging as a potential destination.
There, he would once again share the field with Jayden Daniels, who was his quarterback in college.
Most recently, Aiyuk also caused a stir with an Instagram video in which he said: “Before I lie down and go to sleep, I just wanted to say: Go Commanders, go Commanders, go Commanders!”
