The New York Jets have extended the contract of one of their key players. Together with several rookies, they are building a solid foundation for the future.

The New York Jets have re-signed one of their key players. Offensive lineman Joe Tippmann has signed a new four-year contract worth up to $66.4 million in the Big Apple.

This was reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. According to the report, approximately $34.9 million is guaranteed. Originally, he was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract next season.

New York Jets Lay the Groundwork for the Future

Tippmann was drafted by the Jets in the second round in 2023. Since then, he has appeared in 48 games, playing both center and guard. Last season, the 25-year-old proved to be a very strong pass protector at right guard.

The Jets recognized this and awarded him a long-term contract. Together with the two first-round tackles, Olu Fashanu (2024, 11th pick) and Armand Membou (2025, 7th pick), the franchise now has a solid foundation for the future.

In the upcoming season, their task will be to give returning quarterback Geno Smith enough time to get his passes off. Given his disastrous last season, that will likely be sorely needed.

However, there could be a new face at the quarterback position as early as the following season, as the next draft class features several promising quarterback prospects. Among others, Arch Manning and Dante Moore are expected to be available.

Since a major turnaround for the franchise isn’t expected next season either, the Jets should have a pretty good chance of securing a promising quarterback prospect.

New York has already signed a long-term extension with Breece Hall, arguably their best player, and in the draft, they added three talented first-round picks: edge rusher David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sadiq, and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.

The Jets may be laying the groundwork for a promising future and could make the playoffs in one of the coming seasons for the first time since 2010.
