The Los Angeles Rams without Sean McVay? Hard to imagine. But it almost happened, as the head coach has now revealed.

Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay has spoken surprisingly candidly about a personal crisis in his coaching career.

On the podcast “Bussin’ With The Boys,” the 40-year-old admitted that after the poor 2022 season, in which the Rams won only five games, he was on the verge of giving up his coaching job.

“I would have conveniently hidden behind a media offer. But the truth is, I would have just walked away. I couldn’t handle the losses,” said McVay.

The head coach emphasized that he had received some very lucrative offers at the time for a career as a TV analyst.

It was his wife, Veronika, who ultimately changed his mind. She made it clear to him that quitting in this situation wouldn’t be in line with the kind of leader he wanted to be.

Thoughts of his son also played a role: McVay wanted to be able to credibly explain to him one day how to deal with setbacks.

Since then, McVay has led the Rams to three consecutive playoff appearances, including a trip to the NFC Championship Game last season.
