Cam Skattebo of the New York Giants is currently working on his comeback from the serious injury he suffered last season. But that isn’t stopping him from talking a big game.
Cam Skattebo has set ambitious goals for himself ahead of the upcoming NFL season.
The New York Giants running back impressed as a rookie last season, but dislocated his ankle in Week 8 and missed the rest of the season.
NFL: Only Nine Players with Over 2,000 Rushing Yards
If he can meet his self-imposed goal, last season’s fifth-round pick would join an elite club. In NFL history, there have been only nine seasons in which a player has surpassed the 2,000-rushing-yard mark.
The first to achieve this was O.J. Simpson in 1973 for the Buffalo Bills, who rushed for 2,003 yards in 14 games. The most recent 2,000-yard season to date belongs to Saquon Barkley, who in 2024 racked up 2,005 yards for the Philadelphia Eagles in 16 of 17 possible games.
The record for the most rushing yards in a single season still dates back to 1984, when Eric Dickerson gained 2,105 yards in 16 games for the Los Angeles Rams.
