NFL – “Disrespectful!” Seahawks Star Jaxon Smith-Njigba Receives the Wrong Trophy

An embarrassing mix-up in the NFL. Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named Offensive Player of the Year but received the wrong trophy.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s joy over his first major NFL award has faded a bit.

The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year in February—but he received the wrong trophy, as he showed in a video on Instagram on Tuesday.

“I don’t want to embarrass anyone—but this is starting to get disrespectful,” said Smith-Njigba, pointing to his trophy, which reads “Defensive Player of the Year.” The 24-year-old assured fans, however, that he would keep the award.

The wide receiver had contributed to the Seahawks’ second Super Bowl victory with an outstanding season. He led the league with 1,793 yards and 119 receptions.
