Former cherleader and cherleading director Tracy Sormanti has been inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. She died of cancer in December.

The New England Patriots have inducted their longtime Cherleader Director Tracy Sormanti into the Hall of Fame.

She becomes the first woman to be represented in the successful franchise’s Hall of Fame.

Sormanti spent 27 seasons with the New England Patriots. On December 4, 2020, she passed away after a lengthy bout with cancer at the age of just 58.

She is only the third person to be elected directly to the Hall of Fame by the Kraft family of owners, following Patriots founder Billy Sullivan and radio commentator Gil Santos. 

Robert Kraft calls Sormanti one of the “greatest ambassadors “

“Tracy Sormanti was one of my first hires after I bought the team. Over the past 27 seasons, she has been one of our greatest ambassadors,” Robert Kraft said in a statement. “No one worked more passionately for the Patriots and was more committed to using our brand to connect with fans than Tracy.”

He added: “She loved preparing her teams for their performances, both on and off the field. Her work has entertained and positively impacted the lives of so many in our communities over the past three decades.”

The Rhode Islander native began as an active Cherleader with the Patriots in 1983. When Kraft took over the team in 1994, he promoted her to Cherleading Director. She participated in ten Super Bowls.
