NFL – Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love celebrates head coach Matt LaFleur’s contract extension

Head coach Matt LaFleur extended his contract with the Green Bay Packers in January. His starting quarterback, Jordan Love, couldn’t be happier about it.

Despite breakup rumors, the Green Bay Packers have extended the contract of head coach Matt LaFleur after the bitter playoff exit in the Wild Card Round against the Chicago Bears in January.

This means LaFleur remains the only NFL head coach in the career of his starting quarterback Jordan Love for the time being – which makes him particularly happy.

Jordan Love: “It’s great”

“It’s great to still have Matt on the team. I’m very happy about it,“ Love told ‘WFRV’: ”It’s a lot of effort to learn a whole new system and new terminology. As a quarterback, it definitely helps me to stay in the same system with the same terminology.”

Love was surprisingly drafted by the Packers in the first round in 2020, although Green Bay had a top quarterback in Aaron Rodgers – who subsequently backed that up with two consecutive MVP titles.

So Love didn’t take over the reins until 2023. So far, however, he has shown convincing performances in his three seasons as a starter. In 2024, the quarterback signed a contract extension worth 220 million dollars. Love is still tied to the Packers until 2028.
