The Seattle Seahawks have injury concerns ahead of their clash with the Los Angeles Rams. Two key offensive players are likely to be sidelined.
Even before the divisional round game against the San Francisco 49ers, Sam Darnold’s participation was in doubt. An abdominal muscle injury slowed down the Seattle Seahawks quarterback in the week leading up to the game. Darnold gritted his teeth and played in the dominant 48-6 victory over the Niners. But even in this week’s training, Darnold is only limited on the field, with head coach Mike MacDonald protecting him from excessive strain.
However, it is very unlikely that he will miss the game against the Los Angeles Rams. Videos from training show him warming up normally, so this is more of a precautionary measure.
Seattle Seahawks: Charles Cross not at training
The Hawks are more concerned about left tackle Charles Cross, Darnold’s most important protector on the offensive line. He was absent due to a foot injury he sustained in the divisional playoff game.
He did not attend training on Thursday. MacDonald said he was “optimistic,” but added, “We’ll have to see how it looks.”
This is particularly problematic because both Cross’s first backup, Josh Jones, and third left tackle, Amari Knight, were unable to practice. “We have to take a look at them every day and evaluate them,” MacDonald explained.
About three weeks ago, Cross signed a four-year, $104.4 million contract.
