NFL: Micah Parsons makes new allegations against Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

Micah Parsons writes in a tweet that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been slandering him in the media for months. It’s the latest chapter in a months-long war of words.

The new year has begun, but Micah Parsons still hasn’t made peace with the circumstances surrounding his departure from the Dallas Cowboys in the summer.

On New Year’s Day, the Green Bay Packers linebacker spoke to “X” and launched a fierce attack on Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

“You want me to feel bad? Jerry Jones has been slandering my name for months to the Cowboys’ club media and the national media. So I think I’m allowed to respond to comments if I want to,” Parsons wrote.

The 26-year-old NFL star was obviously referring to an earlier tweet in which he defended his longtime Cowboys and current Packers teammate Trevon Diggs.

“I wonder what the point is in publicly disrespecting someone. He no longer represents the star, so let’s just say goodbye to him and wish him all the best. I don’t understand why every time there’s a breakup, everything has to be negative! He’s in a better situation now, believe me! The bro will be great again,” Parsons wrote.

He was referring to a tweet from a Cowboys blogger in which Diggs was described, among other things, as “the worst cornerback in the league.” Parsons apparently saw this as a kind of kick while he was down, which in turn seems to remind him of the circumstances of his own departure.

The Packers signed Diggs off waivers on Wednesday, which led to some negative reactions from both Packers and Cowboys fans. And apparently made Parsons freak out.

Micah Parsons’ trade was preceded by a mudslinging contest

The linebacker had left Dallas for Green Bay in August amid a dispute after Jerry Jones refused to give Parsons a mega contract.

The trade was preceded by months of mutual recriminations. Among other things, the Cowboys owner accused Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, of greed, claiming that he had torpedoed the deal – even though he had been prepared to pay the best defensive player at the time generously.

Parsons, who is currently injured with a cruciate ligament, clearly still sees things differently and remains angry. This is underlined once again by the harsh words he directed at Jerry Jones on New Year’s Day.
