NFL: Antonio Brown released from prison on bail pending murder trial

Antonio Brown is free again for the time being. In return, he must post a five-figure bail. He will also receive a special item of clothing.

Former NFL star Antonio Brown, who is facing trial for attempted murder, has been released from prison in Miami after less than a week. According to US media reports, the 37-year-old had previously pleaded “not guilty” to the charge of second-degree attempted murder.

Brown is allowed to await the start of the trial outside of prison on $25,000 bail, but must wear a GPS ankle bracelet. Brown faces up to 15 years in prison. It is not yet clear when the trial will begin.

Brown was extradited from Dubai to the US last week after being arrested in the Emirates. He had fled there after a shooting at a boxing match.

Brown is accused of firing shots at an amateur boxing event in Miami on May 16 after snatching a gun from a security guard.

Brown in court: Not the first case for the former NFL star

The 2021 Super Bowl winner with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had already been accused of sexual assault by a former trainer in a civil lawsuit in 2019. He later settled out of court.

In 2020, he pleaded not guilty to burglary and assault charges after an incident involving a moving company outside his home. Brown’s NFL career ended in 2022 when he took off his jersey during a Buccaneers game against the New York Jets and stormed off the field.
