Antonio Brown arrested: Attempted murder? Former NFL star pleads not guilty

Following Antonio Brown’s arrest, his lawyer has now issued a statement regarding the serious allegations. And pleads his innocence.

After former NFL star Antonio Brown was arrested in Dubai, his lawyer has now issued a statement. “I have taken on this case because I firmly believe in Brown’s defense,” Mark Eiglarsh is quoted as saying in the statement. “The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defense against the alleged victim’s violent behavior,” the lawyer said of the allegations.

He continued: “Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself against a person who had previously committed crimes against him. I am honored to represent him and am determined to ensure that justice is served.”

After a search lasting more than four months, Mike Vega, Miami police spokesman, recently announced that “AB” is no longer at large.

“The Miami Police Department confirms that U.S. Marshals have arrested Antonio Brown and that he has been extradited to the United States,” Vega was quoted by NBC News as saying. After his arrest in Dubai, he was taken to New York, then to Miami.

Arrest warrant for Antonio Brown since mid-June

Brown is accused of attempted murder. An arrest warrant has been out for the 37-year-old since mid-June.

The trigger was an incident during an amateur boxing event in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami. The former NFL pro is alleged to have stolen a gun from a security guard and shot a man twice with it. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

According to the Associated Press, attorney Eiglarsh pleaded “not guilty” in the Brown case in an official letter he submitted. Since the former NFL star left the country to avoid the arrest warrant, he could be denied release on bail.

Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales has also spoken out. “Let this serve as a clear message: No matter who you are or where you run, we will pursue the facts, identify you, locate you, and bring you to justice,” he made clear.

And: “To anyone who is even thinking about committing a crime in Miami, know this: we will find you.”

Antonio Brown: Active on social media despite the search

Brown has been active on social media despite the ongoing search. Just a week ago, he posted an advertisement for the online sports betting website “BC Game.”

The ad shows Brown behind the wheel of a black Lamborghini at an unknown location. “Locked up, living well, and VIP energy is something special,” was the cheeky message to his 15 million Instagram followers. He’s probably not laughing now.

Brown himself described the terrible incident in June of this year as follows: “I was attacked by several people who tried to steal my jewelry and physically harm me.”

“The police temporarily detained me until they heard my side of the story, and then they released me,” he added. He now wants to consult with his lawyer to decide whether to press charges.
