NFL: New York Jets with endless first-round picks after blockbuster trades – is a new dynasty emerging?

First, star cornerback Sauce Gardner moved to the Colts, then All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys. In return, the Jets receive three first-round picks over the next two years – the beginning of something big?

The New York Jets seem ready for a complete rebuild. First, star cornerback Sauce Gardner was traded to the Indianapolis Colts for two first-round picks, followed shortly thereafter by the decision to part ways with former first-round pick Quinnen Williams.

In exchange for Williams, the Jets receive another first-round pick and a second-round pick from the Dallas Cowboys. It feels like the Jets are planning something big.

In 2026, the Jets will have their own first-, second-, and fourth-round picks. Added to that is an additional first-rounder from the trade with the Colts for Gardner and another second-round pick from the deal with the Cowboys for Williams. The Jets also received a sixth-round pick from a trade with the Buffalo Bills and another seventh-round pick from the Bills as part of another deal.

In addition, they secured another seventh-round pick from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

2027 NFL Draft: Three Jets picks in the first round

Things are looking even better for the Jets in 2027: they have all their own picks in the first five rounds, plus four more.

The blockbuster trades for Gardner and Williams will give the Jets two additional first-round picks. This means they will have three (!) picks in the first round in 2027. In addition, a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs involving defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi brought in another sixth-round pick, as did the trade for wide receiver John Metchie III with the Philadelphia Eagles. In summary, the Jets have a total of eight picks in the first two rounds of the 2026 and 2027 drafts alone. Looking at this starting position, one might think that the next dynasty could emerge in New York. However, the big question remains whether the Jets can actually make this happen.
