NFL: New York Giants spring a big surprise against the Eagles – years-long streak finally comes to an end

Reigning Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles suffered another surprise defeat on Thursday Night in Week 6. The Giants end a losing streak.

A big surprise at the start of NFL Week 6. While the New York Giants scored a clear victory in a complete surprise, the Philadelphia Eagles were defeated once again.

The team led by quarterback Jalen Hurts lost the division duel against the New York Giants by a clear margin of 17:34, losing two games in a row for the first time since 2023. This leaves the defending champions with a record of four wins and two losses after their perfect start to the season, and the Washington Commanders could catch up in the NFC East.

The Giants won against a team from their own division for the first time since 2023 and eight unsuccessful attempts, but remain at the bottom of the table with a record of two wins and four losses.

Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo impress again

The match winners were rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart with one touchdown pass (to wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson) and one rushing touchdown, as well as a total of 195 passing yards, and his congenial running back Cam Skattebo, who shone with three touchdowns.

The rookie running back scored with runs of over four yards and twice from the one-yard line. In total, he gained 98 rushing yards (on 19 carries).

The struggling veteran Russell Wilson was once again benched, only allowed on the field for one play.

Eagles stars disappoint again

After losing 17-27 to the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia played a decent first half and went into the break trailing by a narrow margin of 17-20. But after the break, they failed to score a single point, with Hurts throwing an interception, among other things.

The Eagles’ other star players are also still struggling to find their form this season. Running back Saquon Barkley gained 58 yards on twelve carries, which was certainly also due to the course of the game.

Top receiver AJ Brown caught passes for 80 yards (his second-best total this season) but again failed to score a touchdown.

For the Giants, this is their first win in a Thursday Night Game after 3,668 days, or almost exactly ten years. The franchise had lost its previous ten games on a Thursday.
