Philadelphia Eagles: A.J. Brown apologizes for cryptic tweet

After A.J. Brown caused speculation with a questionable post on social media, the wide receiver faced the media—and took responsibility.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has apologized for a cryptic tweet after Sunday’s 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The post, in which Brown wrote, “If you’re not welcome, not involved, quietly step back. Don’t make a scene, just make your way out,” had sparked speculation about discontent within the team.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Brown took full responsibility: “I let my frustration boil over. I had the chance to correct it and I didn’t. That’s my fault.”

A.J. Brown: Trade request? “I love it here.”

However, he clearly emphasized that the tweet was not directed at head coach Nick Sirianni, quarterback Jalen Hurts, the general manager, or other team members. The extent to which this is true remains to be seen, however.

Despite the Eagles’ perfect 4-0 start, the offense is struggling. Brown expressed his desire for more involvement: “It’s fair to want the ball to get us going.” At the same time, he emphasized his loyalty: “This is my home. I love it here.”

In Week 5, the Philadelphia Eagles host the Denver Broncos.
