NFL: Jakob Johnson called up to the Houston Texans’ active roster

The Houston Texans have called up Jakob Johnson to their active roster, rewarding him for his strong performances at the start of the season.

Jakob Johnson is being rewarded for his strong performances at the start of the season.

The Houston Texans announced that they had signed the Stuttgart native to the active roster before Week 3. NFL expert Adam Schefter had previously reported that this move would happen, citing Johnson’s agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.

Before the start of the season, the fullback only made it onto the Texans’ practice squad, but was called up to the game day roster before the first and second games.

Before Sunday’s game at the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Texans could have exercised this option for the third and final time. Instead, they have now signed him for the entire season.

Johnson likely to play more games for the Texans

This means that the 30-year-old will now remain on the 53-man roster and will most likely see action in the next few games.

Even though the Texans lost a close game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-20 last Monday, Johnson had his big moment in the game.

In the fourth quarter, he blocked an opposing punt, giving his team a chance to win, but the Texans were unable to capitalize on it.

Johnson’s strength is his versatility. He can be used both on special teams and on offense as a blocking tight end.
