NFL: Star kicker Tucker suspended for ten games

Professional football player Justin Tucker has been suspended for ten games by the US professional league NFL following allegations of sexual misconduct. According to the league, the suspension will begin on August 26, and the kicker will be available for play again on November 11. The 35-year-old has been without a team since his release from the Baltimore Ravens in early May, but he is allowed to look for a new employer during his suspension.

In its statement, the league cited “violations of the NFL’s conduct policy” as the official reason for the suspension. In January, Tucker was accused of inappropriate behavior by 16 massage therapists in a report by the Baltimore Banner. Among other things, he is alleged to have exposed his genitals during massage appointments. The incidents are said to have taken place between 2012 and 2016.

Tucker, who is considered one of the best kickers in the NFL, strongly denied the allegations but accepted the suspension on the advice of his management. “In order to put this difficult episode behind him and get back on the field as soon as possible, we advised Justin to accept this decision and close the matter,” his agent Rob Roche said in a statement.

However, the player stands by his previous statements, and Tucker and his team are disappointed with the NFL’s decision. Justin has always strived to conduct himself in a manner that makes his family and community proud,” Roche said.

The franchise cited sporting reasons for his dismissal from the Ravens. Tucker holds the NFL record for the longest field goal of 66 yards and the highest career field goal percentage of 89.1 percent. He won the Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2013.
