The Kansas City Chiefs have restructured Patrick Mahomes’ contract in order to have at least a little flexibility in the NFL’s free agency and to be able to sign important new players.
At the latest since Trey Smith’s contract extension, it was clear that the Kansas City Chiefs would have to get creative in order to make big moves in free agency.
Chiefs give Patrick Mahomes new contract
As “ESPN” reports, the franchise has therefore now restructured the contracts of Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones. According to the report, the Chiefs have now freed up around $49 million in cap space.
This was necessary to make the planned signings of offensive tackle Jaylon Moore, running back Elijah Mitchell and cornerback Kristian Fulton perfect.
