Anyone who is indoors at an NFL game must wear a mouth and nose protector at all times except for the players. Not all coaches were disciplined in Week 1.

At the start of the season, the NFL handed out a memo to the coaches: In a memo, the league called on them to be more disciplined when wearing a mouth-and-nose protector.

NFL Vice President Troy Vincent found clear words in the memo, which was primarily addressed to the coaches who were particularly conspicuous in the violations of the corona protocols.

Vincent stressed that “we must remain vigilant and disciplined in following the processes and protocols that have been established not only by the league, union and teams, but also by state and local governments.

Reid’s laughter
The protocols state that everyone with indoor access must wear a mask at all times, except for the players. Whether the coaches wear a mask or, like Chief Coach Andy Reid, a face shield is up to them.

Reid caused a laugh in the social media because his visor constantly fogged up during the game. “That was brutal,” he said. “I didn’t do very well with this thing. It’ll be better next time.”

But the NFL doesn’t take a joke when it comes to wearing the mask properly. For example, Rams coach Sean McVay was often shown on television how his mask hung under his chin. Even the new Panthers coach Matt Rhule did not turn out to be a role model in terms of discipline.

Rhule wants to get better
The NFL announced unspecified measures in the event of further non-compliance with this requirement. “It was different for me to wear a mask and speak into the microphone and be heard,” said Rhule. “Next time I’ll use the Face Shield.”
