NFL – Kansas City Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes criticizes his own team

Against the Carolina Panthers, the Kansas City Chiefs were dependent on a last-second field goal, and in the weeks before that, they often only won by a narrow margin. That bothers quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

A defeat against the Carolina Panthers wouldn’t have done much harm to the Kansas City Chiefs’ record, but the Super Bowl champions would certainly have had to endure a lot of ridicule.

Fortunately for the franchise, Harrison Butker’s replacement kicker, Spencer Shrader, converted the field goal at the last second.

But the Chiefs, who are actually so dominant, don’t like to tremble, especially quarterback Patrick Mahomes: “You want to have a few blowouts. You want to be a little calmer in the fourth quarter.”

And that’s not all: “I’ve always said that for the playoffs and later in the season, it can make sense if you know you’ve experienced these moments before. But I’d like to win a game before the very last play.”

One Score Wins: Chiefs set record

In fact, eight of the Chiefs’ 10 wins came from “one-score wins” that could have been turned around or evened out by a single touchdown from the opposing team. This is the shared NFL record after eleven weeks.

Of course, you can blame it on the clutch abilities of the experienced Chiefs, but by now you can assume that the franchise has a certain amount of luck. A blocked field goal, an overtime touchdown, and now two last-second field goals of their own.

Nevertheless, the team in Kansas is happy with the outstanding 10-1 record. After his veiled criticism, Mahomes also noted that he takes the victories in every shape and color. However, he would much prefer it to be less stressful.
