For the first time in over two months, American football star Amon-Ra St. Brown has gone without a touchdown in the NFL, but his Detroit Lions have extended their winning streak. The team around the German-American won with 24:6 against the Indianapolis Colts, it was the ninth win in a row for the Motor City title contenders and the tenth in eleven games this season.
Wide Receiver St. Brown had scored at least one touchdown in every game since the third game day, and even scored twice last weekend. The 25-year-old had not scored in the Lions’ only loss so far, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in mid-September.
Against the Colts, St. Brown caught six of seven passes and contributed 62 yards of space gain. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs (2) and David Montgomery (1) scored the three touchdowns. Detroit, a playoff semi-finalist last season, cemented its top position in the NFC North. Its pursuers, the Minnesota Vikings, won a difficult game at the Chicago Bears 30:27 after extra time and now have a 9:2 record.
Only one other team has a 10-1 record alongside Detroit: the Kansas City Chiefs. After their first loss of the season last week, the Super Bowl champions won 30-27 at the Carolina Panthers with a field goal in the final second. The Chiefs, with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, had recently lost to the Buffalo Bills.
In a dramatic game, the Washington Commanders and German-American rookie Brandon Coleman were defeated 26:34 by the Dallas Cowboys, who have been badly shaken recently. Commanders kicker Austin Seibert missed the chance to tie the game at 27:27 with an extra point shortly before the end, thereby preventing overtime. His subsequent onside kick also failed, and Dallas made everything clear with a touchdown.
