The Buffalo Bills want to sell a part of their franchise. Now, a group of athletes around two NBA Hall of Famers is moving into the picture.

The Buffalo Bills are showing again this season that they are a force to be reckoned with. The NFL team is 4-2 after six games, making the franchise around star quarterback Josh Allen a serious Super Bowl contender. That’s reason enough for a group of former sports stars to want to buy into the Bills.

As reported by the business newspaper Sportico, former NBA players Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady and former US soccer star Jozy Altidore want to become shareholders in the Bills. The team has so far remained silent on the matter.

“Earlier this year, the Pegula family engaged Allen & amp; Company to explore a potential sale of a minority stake in the Bills. Since then, there has been a considerable amount of interest and our focus has been on finding the right partners for our organization,” the team told NFL insider Adam Shefter.

The process is ongoing, but cannot be completed and confirmed until it has been approved by the NFL, they said.

With a value of $4.2 billion, the Bills currently rank 30th among the most valuable sports clubs on the Forbes list. According to The Athletic, the Bills want to sell shares worth up to $1.3 billion.

Minority shareholders in sports?

Vince Carter is a former shooting guard for the NBA basketball league. The 1998 first-round pick played in the league for 24 years and was subsequently inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Tracy McGrady also played in the NBA for a long time for teams such as the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic. McGrady also later became part of the NBA Hall of Fame.

Jozy Altidore, meanwhile, earns his money playing soccer. The striker played in the Premier League for Sunderland and in LaLiga for Villarreal, among others. After spells in Turkey, the Netherlands and Mexico, he returned to the top US league, where the 34-year-old still plays. His contract with the New England Revolution expires in December 2024.
