Star running back Derrick Henry attaches great importance to his body and invests a lot of money in it
In each of the 32 NFL teams there are absolute full machines. And yet there are a few players in the league who stand out from the rest in terms of strength, athleticism, endurance or speed.
Derrick Henry is one of these players. The star running back has been tearing up NFL defenses for eight years.
The 30-year-old’s enormous physicality stands out in his running game. And it’s no wonder, because the Baltimore Ravens’ new signing attaches particular importance to his body.
In addition to special training and fitness sessions, Henry also follows a special diet. Henry has a lot of helpers around him who make sure he stays fit.
But the team, the diet and the training come at a price. According to a report by “The Athletic”, the long-time star player of the Tennessee Titans spends around 250,000 US dollars a year to stay fit.
Henry owns private chef
An enormous sum made up of various components. Henry has employed a private chef. He does not use any fried foods or foods containing gluten in his dishes. Dairy products and artificial sugar are also strictly forbidden at Henry’s.
Before training, the running back eats kale, an avocado or banana to get something into his body. During the offseason, Henry probably doesn’t eat his meal until 1 pm. In the regular season, he doesn’t even eat until around 4 or 5 pm. Another meal then follows at around 8 pm.
But these meals are quite something.
“I probably eat three chicken breasts, some rice and broccoli,” said Henry. “Then I’ll have gluten-free pancakes, scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, fries and a steak. “
Henry’s crazy training plan
In addition, he takes plenty of vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and other nutrients. In the offseason, Henry trains in the gym every day – and then twice.
His workouts include around ten sprints on a 100-meter hill, hammer curls with 80-pound dumbbells and Bulgarian split squats with 120-pound dumbbells. He is also supposed to keep fit and recover with cold therapy, infrared saunas, hyperbaric oxygen, massage therapy and other physical work.
“If I spend time anywhere, it’s probably in a gym, because that’s what I like to do,” explained Henry.
