In the NFL, speed is not the only thing that matters, but it is also very important. The top speed among all ball carriers in the 2023 season was surprisingly provided by DK Metcalf ahead of a rookie
Tyreek Hill is considered the fastest player in the NFL. That’s why the 30-year-old is deservedly nicknamed the “Cheetah”. For opposing defensive lines, the Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver is even forbidden to be fast.
In the 2023 season, however, two ball carriers reached even higher speeds than Hill. This is according to the figures published by NFL reporter Dov Kleiman. According to these figures, the Dolphins star achieved a top value of 22.01 miles per hour (mp/h), i.e. 35.42 kilometers per hour (km/h).
He is outdone by Chase Brown and front-runner DK Metcalf. The Cincinnati Bengals’ running back was therefore clocked at 22.05 mp/h, or 35.48 km/h, in his rookie season.
Unrivaled, however, was the enormously athletic wide receiver of the Seattle Seahawks. Metcalf accelerated his 106.5 kilograms distributed over 1.93 meters up to 22.23 mp/h – that’s 35.77 km/h. Only this trio was faster than 22 mp/h.
His teammate De’Von Achane (21.93 mp/h or 35.29 km/h) finished behind Hill, ahead of KaVontae Turpin from the Dallas Cowboys (21.91 mp/h or 35.26 km/h). Another superstar follows in sixth place with Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans, who managed 21.68 mp/h, or 34.89 km/h.
Rounding out the top 10 are Raheem Mostert of the Dolphins (21.62 mp/h or 34.79 km/h), Kenneth Walker III of the Seahawks (21.56 mp/h or 34.69 km/h), George Pickens of the Pittsburgh Steelers (21.54 mp/h or 34.66 km/h) and Ja’Marr Chase of the Bengals (21.52 mp/h or 34.63 km/h).
