Bills rookie receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling talks about the experience with his previous quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.
Exciting comparison from Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The NFL receiver, who is currently under contract with the Buffalo Bills, was a guest on the “FS1” program “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” and talked about his experiences with quarterback superstars Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.
With “A-Rod”, the pass receiver played for the Green Bay Packers from 2018 to 2021, with Mahomes he won the Super Bowl twice in 2022 and 2023 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“They’re two different types of leaders,” Valdes-Scantling said of the future Hall of Famers: “Pat is a lot more vocal, he drives the team. Aaron is more, you know, right in your face. It’s like comparing a hype man in the locker room to a drill sergeant – they both get the job done, but the playbook is different.”
Rodgers has been under contract with the New York Jets since 2023. Although Valdes-Scantling has signed with division rival Buffalo, he and Rodgers – who have gotten along well since their time together with the Packers – recently worked out together.
“I called him and told him I was coming to L.A., so let’s make some plays. Then we hit the road and went to a high school to work out a little bit. It was good,” the wide receiver said.
Receiver praises Rodgers and Mahomes
A surprising update, Rodgers’ whereabouts were largely unknown as of late. At the start of Jets minicamp, the signal caller had gone AWOL, which reportedly resulted in a fine.
Incidentally, the 29-year-old didn’t have anything negative to say about Rodgers and Mahomes: “I was grateful to have those two guys as my first two quarterbacks. “
