NFL – Carolina Panthers: Discussion about new stadium – in 22 years!

The Carolina Panthers have been playing in the same stadium since 1996. Could that change in the future?

The Carolina Panthers have been playing at Bank of America Stadium in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, since it opened in 1996 – albeit previously under a different stadium name.

According to a report, the NFL franchise could get a new stadium, albeit not for another 22 years. According to “WSOC-TV,” current discussions about renovating the stadium include a possible agreement to begin negotiations on a new stadium by 2037. With the goal of possibly opening a new stadium nine years later.

A journalist from the local radio station “WFAE” has published the agenda for the Charlotte City Council meeting next Monday. A current proposal is to be discussed there, according to which the stadium could be modernized for around 650 million US dollars.

Little is known so far about how expensive a modernization would really be and who would pay for it.
