NFL expands: Season game in Brazil and even more International Games

The NFL will play a regular-season game in Brazil for the first time in 2024. The International Series will also be significantly expanded from 2025.

A regular season game will be played in Brazil as early as next year – the first ever in South America. This was announced by the National Football League on Wednesday. The match at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo is one of five games that will be played abroad.

As announced a few weeks ago, the fifth match will take place at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Three further matches are scheduled for London. With the game in South America, the NFL will have played at least one game on five of the seven continents.

The 32 NFL teams also agreed to increase the number of international games. From 2025, up to eight regular season games may be played abroad.

New host cities for future seasons will be announced at a later date, according to a statement.

“Taking the NFL to new continents, new countries and cities around the world is a critical element of our plan to continue to grow the game globally,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell: “Brazil has established itself as a key market for the NFL, and we look forward to playing in Brazil and Sao Paulo for the first time in 2024. “
