The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are preparing for their first season without retired star quarterback Tom Brady. But his former teammate Antoine Winfield is still hoping for a Brady comeback
Tampa Bay’s Antoine Winfield is fuelling hopes of a possible comeback for star quarterback Tom Brady.
“I’m sure we’re still contacting him, trying to find out if he’s going to come back to the team,” Winfield said on Richard Sherman’s podcast, expressing hope: “Hey, it could happen. Anything is possible.”
Brady after comeback with impressive numbers
Even the previous year, seven-time Super Bowls champion Brady had retired, only to retire a few months later and play another season for the Buccaneers. This surprised even Winfield.
“When he first said he was retiring, I really thought he was done,” Winfield said, “It surprised me when he came back.” After his comeback, Brady ran in all 17 games this season until the Buccaneers’ playoff exit, amassing nearly 4,700 yards and throwing 25 touchdowns.
