Seattle Seahawks: Historic season on the horizon thanks to Denver Broncos

The Seattle Seahakws can still make the playoffs in the season-ending draft. Thanks to the Denver Broncos and the Russell Wilson deal, they could still be an upcoming draft winner

The 2022 season can already be considered a success for the Seattle Seahawks.

Despite sending longtime star quarterback and face of the franchise Russell Wilson to Denver, head coach Pete Carroll has moulded a team that is still in contention for the playoffs. While the Broncos are down. That’s exactly what will make the Seahawks all the more happy.

That’s because the trade package for Wilson included the Broncos’ first-round pick for 2023. Currently, the Broncos have the third-worst record in the league – so the Seahawks are likely to select a new talent third overall in the upcoming draft.

Seahawks must hope for competition

The last time a team had such a high draft pick while also being in the playoffs was in 2000, when the Washington Commanders (formerly “Redskins”) won the NFC East with a record of 10-6. They even had three first-round picks in the following draft.

If the Broncos slip even further in the next two game days, the Seahawks could even get their hands on the first overall pick. That, however, is out of the Seahawks’ hands.

They also need to finish the season with two wins themselves and hope that both the Green Bay Packers and Commanders lose at least one game.
