NFL – New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees thought about comeback

Drew Brees becomes the newest member of the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. At a press conference, he stated that he was seriously considering an NFL return

Drew Brees is considered one of the greatest players in New Orleans Saints history and won the Super Bowl with the team in 2010.

It was announced on Thursday that the longtime playmaker will become the newest member of the Saints’ Hall of Fame. In the course of this, the now 45-year-old also revealed thoughts about an NFL return.

“Honestly, if my right arm was still working, I probably would have played three more years. My body feels great. My body can play, my right arm can’t. Unfortunately, that forced me to stop. And it was about time,” Brees is quoted as saying by “ESPN”.

However, the former QB, who ended his career after the 2020 season, still had an itch in his fingers. He had seriously considered a comeback in 2021, but ultimately it failed due to the deteriorating abilities of his right shoulder: “At the end of the day, it’s about: Am I capable of doing the job? “

Brees had already reported on the problems in his throwing arm last November and revealed how much they would also limit him when playing football with his children, for example.

Drew Brees considers TV or coaching career

“I can throw 30 yards with my left hand. Unfortunately, at this level, you need a little bit more than that to keep up,” Brees once again expressed the difficulties.

But he has no intention of staying away from football. Having already covered a season of broadcasts for TV station “NBC”, he can imagine doing the same in the future. Brees, who has already worked briefly as an assistant coach at Purdue, has not ruled out a coaching career either.

“I have a passion for football. I still love the game. I love coaching the game, I love watching the game, I love analyzing the game. And that will never stop,” he explained.
