After the Dallas Cowboys are taking their time to extend the contract of their quarterback Dak Prescott, he only commented on the matter and the role money plays for him.
Dak Prescott spoke about his contract and a pending extension during Dallas Cowboys team activities on Wednesday.
“I don’t play for money. I’ve never cared about it, to be honest with you,” the signal caller said.
“I’d give it up just to play this game. So I leave it up to the business people to say what it’s worth, what they should give a quarterback like me, a person, a leader like me. For me, it’s about controlling what I can control and getting that part done […] the rest will take care of itself.”
The 30-year-old quarterback is currently in the final year of a four-year, $160 million contract he signed in 2021. However, this includes a no-trade clause. In addition, the team cannot use the franchise tag on him next year.
Prescott also commented on whether a contract would be a sign of respect for him.
Dallas hasn’t been in the championship game since 1995
“I don’t really take things personally. Maybe things were a little different when I signed my first contract than they are now. For one, it’s because of my age and who I am, where I’m at in my life.”
Prescott had the most touchdown passes in the NFL last year and gave the Cowboys their third straight NFC East title with a 12-5 record.
However, the season ended in disappointment. In the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, they suffered a heavy defeat against the Green Bay Packers.
Prescott has now not made it past the second round of the playoffs in five attempts. The Cowboys have also not been to the NFC Championship Game since 1995
