Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love happy for Aaron Rodgers and his contract

Aaron Rodgers has ended any speculation about his future this offseason by signing a new contract through 2025. His backup Jordan Lovewas happy for Rodgers, but is also aware of his own fate.

Munich/Green Bay – It was probably the biggest topic of the current offseason: Aaron Rodgers and his future. That future was clarified in the spring when Rodgers signed a new three-year contract with the Green Bay Packers that pays him around 150 million dollars guaranteed.

So it is clear: Rodgers will continue to be the Packers’ starter in the coming years. And it’s also certain: Jordan Love probably won’t be. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old was happy for his colleague.

Jordan Love: “Aaron deserved it “

During a media round on Tuesday, Love said, “I was very happy for him. Aaron deserves it, just look at what he’s delivered here the last two years.”

However, the 23-year-old is also aware of the consequences of this contract. “For me personally, it means being the backup again. That’s all I can control,” Love continued.

However, the quarterback also admitted to not being completely unreservedly happy about Rodgers’ contract. “Sure, I’m very happy for him, but at the same moment, looking at his personal fate, you think, ‘Huh,’ you know? “

Starter snaps for Love in Rodgers’ absence

Currently, NFL teams are running voluntary workouts called Organized Team Activities, or OTAs. At those, almost traditionally, Aaron Rodgers is not present. Most longtime veterans don’t participate in these events.

For Jordan Love, that means he gets to do the training sessions with the first team, as he did last year. “It was a different situation then,” Love reports. At the same point in 2021, no one knew if Rodgers would ever make another game for the Packers.

“I act like I’m fighting for the job or that it’s not here. From my point of view, I’m currently the man,” the 23-year-old continues.

For him, it’s all about putting himself in the shop window. Because whether he will ever be the starter for the Green Bay Packers, if there are no health problems with Rodgers, is almost impossible, at least in the near future.

After all, he only played his one NFL game from the start because Rodgers is missing against the Kansas City Chiefs in November 2021 due to a Corona infection.
