College Football: Florida Gators defeat Florida State Seminoles – Quarterback carousel on both sides

The Florida Gators decide the “Sunshine Showdown” in 2021 in their favour. Thanks to a quarterback change, the Gators win narrowly against the Florida State Seminoles with a score of 24:21.

Gainesville/Munich – The Florida Gators won the game against their rivals from the Florida State Seminoles.

In the Gators’ 24:21 victory, running back Dameon Pierce as well as playmaker Anthony Richardson, who had experienced the beginning of the “Sunshine Showdown” from the bench, were convincing.

Richardson’s predecessor Emory Jones quickly led the Gators to their first touchdown (163 passing yards), but subsequently made three interceptions. Richardson took over in the third quarter, completing five of his seven passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. In the running game, Richardson scored 27 additional yards.

Florida State Seminoles: quarterback Jordan Travis can’t turn game around

The Seminoles also had to resort to a quarterback rotation during the game. Starter Jordan Travis had to leave the field early due to injury, but returned after a brief rest. With his 202 passing yards and a late touchdown, he made the game exciting again, but the subsequent onside kick failed.

Travis finished the game with an interception and 102 rushing yards (team best; one touchdown).

The Gators end their season with a record of 6-6, the Seminoles drop to 5-7.
