Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been named “Sports Person of the Year” for the second time in his career. He now joins an illustrious round of athletes who have received the award multiple times.
Munich – Tom Brady never stops collecting awards and successes. Now, for the second time in his career, the 44-year-old has been named “Sportsperson of the Year” by the American magazine “Sports Illustrated”. The award is given annually to the athlete or team with outstanding achievements. Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl this year – the first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Second award since 2005
He now joins LeBron James (2012, 2016, 2020) and Tiger Woods (1996 and 2000) as the only athletes to win the award multiple times.
In his acceptance speech, the “GOAT” expressed his gratitude and said: “In 2005, when I first won this award, I was a kid with something to prove. And now I honestly feel the same way.”
And Brady even had a few more jokes in store, showing himself to be a team player…. He never imagined his future would be like this. “Sports Illustrated” has been giving out this award since 1954 and made it clear to his friend and teammate Rob Gronkowski that this was not his rookie year with the Patriots. He went on to explain that he could not win such awards without his team. However, he said he was also sure that he only won this year because they were unable to fly Giannis Antetokounmpo in from Milwaukee.

Things are also going well for Brady on the field at the moment. With the “Bucs” he is on the way to the playoffs and the betting companies have him as one of the favourites for the title of “MVP”.
