NFL: Henry Ruggs faces several years in prison

Following his fatal accident in November 2021, the prison term for former Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs has now been announced.

Following his drunk-driving car crash in November that left a woman and her dog dead, the prison term for Henry Ruggs has now been announced: The former Raiders wide receiver faces three to 10 years in prison.

With good behaviour, Ruggs could therefore be released after just three years. The 24-year-old had pleaded guilty in May. Since then he has been under strict house arrest with constant site surveillance.

Ruggs: Silence but lots of remorse

Publicly, Ruggs has not yet spoken out about the case. All communication has been through his lawyer. However, he has always affirmed how much Ruggs regrets his actions, which is why he pleaded guilty.

The Ruggs case attracted a lot of attention around the NFL. Unfortunately, off-field lapses are not uncommon in the NFL. However, the fact that such a young and promising player, Ruggs was after all selected in the first round in the 2020 NFL Draft, was responsible for a death was unusual even by NFL standards.

Whether Ruggs could then return to the NFL in three years has yet to be determined.
