The German football players Kilian Zierer and Lorenz Metz can hope for a breakthrough in the US professional league NFL. The two offensive line players have received contracts with NFL teams shortly after the end of the draft.

For Zierer, the journey goes to Texas. The 23-year-old received a contract with the Houston Texans, previously he had played in college at Auburn. Metz (25), who played for Cincinnati in college, signed with the Chicago Bears and will be teammates with German wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

Both young players are originally from Bavaria. They were not selected by a team in any of the seven rounds in the last draft and have now been signed as so-called undrafted free agents. In the preseason, Metz and Zierer have the chance to earn a spot on their teams’ final 53-man roster.
