Five quarterbacks in the NFL earn more than 50 million a year, now another could join them

There are currently five playmakers in the NFL earning more than 50 million US dollars a year. Another playmaker could soon join this ranks.

ESPN reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are negotiating a contract extension with their signal caller Trevor Lawrence, which is expected to earn him around 50 million per season. Lawrence, who joined the Jaguars as the No. 1 pick in 2021, is entering the final year of his rookie contract.

According to the report, franchise officials are fully committed to the 24-year-old and want to finalize the new contract before the start of the 2024 season.

Lawrence had already spoken out about his contract situation last month, confirming that he and the Jaguars had begun discussing a possible extension.

“Obviously I’d like to stay with the Jaguars as long as possible,” he said at the time. “We love it here and I love the direction we’re going as an organization, and I feel like I’m getting better every year. My best days are definitely ahead of me. From that standpoint, obviously that would be great.”

Lawrence won the national championship in college at Clemson. After a difficult rookie season, he was able to shine in 2021 and enjoy a call-up to the Pro Bowl. He has also already led his team to the division title and the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

By the way: The five playmakers who already earn more than 50 million a year include Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts.
