NFL – Baltimore Ravens: Offensive coordinator unveils plan for Derrick Henry: “Should carry the ball 300 times”

Derrick Henry was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason. The running back is expected to play a major role in their offense

2024 The Baltimore Ravens want to finally achieve their big goal and win the Super Bowl. Derrick Henry is supposed to help. The running back should make the Ravens’ offense even more variable and take the pressure off Lamar Jackson in the run game.

Offensive coordinator Todd Monken has already come up with a plan for the 30-year-old’s role. He presented it to reporters: “If he carries the ball 300 times, we’re going to have a hell of a year. It means we run the ball a lot. It means we’re ahead in games. We want him to be the closer.”

With 300 or more carries, Henry would surpass the league best (280) from last season. Henry set that mark himself.

Incidentally, 300+ carries would not be new territory for the running back superstar. Henry was already a “perennial runner” in 2019 (303, 1,540 rushing yards), 2020 (378, 2,027 rushing yards) and 2022 (349, 1,538 rushing yards).

Nevertheless, the focus should be on the fitness of the ball carrier. Monken makes this clear: “First and foremost, like every player, we want him to last the season. It’s a long season – 17 games. So we’ll see how that goes. “
